KEY FACTS:

227 people have been seriously injured on South Australian roads during 2017, compared with 315 during 2016.

55 people have been seriously injured in MAY 2017.

33 serious injuries were males and 22 were females.

37 were vehicle occupants, 11 were motorcycle riders, 4 were cyclists and 3 were pedestrians.

In MAY 2017, there were 24 serious injuries in the country and 31 in Adelaide.

Of the 49 serious injury crashes in MAY 2017, 29 involved a single vehicle and 20 involved more than one vehicle.
44 crashes involved a single serious injury and 5 involved multiple serious injuries.
