Mawson Connector (Elder Smith Road) & Mawson Transport Hub

Mawson Connector

The Mawson Connector (Elder Smith Road) is an $11.3 million, 1.3 kilometre dual carriageway which connects the Salisbury Highway to Main North Road and includes a railway overpass.  The $33 million State Government funded Mawson Public Transport Interchange project was completed in March 2006.  It provides integrated bus and passenger train interconnection services, shelters, car parking for up to 100 cars and potential for future expansion.

Key components of this project upgrades and the implementation of Elder Smith Road (Mawson Connector), Main Street to Main North Road section, Salisbury Highway to Main Street section and the Mawson Interchange.  Most trains at the new interchange will connect buses servicing the Mawson Town Centre and the adjacent University of South Australia campus, Endeavour College Technology Park.  It now provides local residents express access to and from the city by train in approximately 13 minutes, while stopping trains will take 17 to 20 minutes.
