South Road Tram Overpass Upgrade

As part of the $15.4 billion North-South Corridor, River Torrens to Darlington Project there are 13 additional projects collectively valued at a total of $850 million which form the broader network upgrades. These projects will support 300 jobs a year during construction and are essential for optimal functioning of the motorway and wider road network both during and after construction of the project.

Modification of the tram overpass at South Road will be required to facilitate the construction of the T2D Project.

We are currently in the early planning and design phase, with the works planned to be undertaken as part of the Tram Grade Separation Projects, which also includes the level crossing removals at Marion Road and Cross Road, Plympton

We would like to assure the community that there will be no requirement to acquire additional properties as a result of the upgrade to the South Road tram overpass.

The Department will undertake further site investigations over the coming months to inform the design. Further information, including community engagement will be available shortly.

We encourage you to register your details with the Tram Grade Separations Project team to receive information as it becomes available, see options below.
