About the project
The old Adelaide Aquatic Centre was used by 700,000 people every day. It had reached its end of useful life and was in very poor condition, offering inadequate facilities.
The South Australian Government is designing, building and operating a new aquatic centre in the Adelaide City northern Park Lands at Pardipardinyilla / Denise Norton Park (Park 2).
We are responsible for the design and construction of this new fit-for-purpose centre, and are working together with the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing who will operate the facility.
Works on this project are underway, with the new centre on track to open this summer!
We look forward to welcoming you back to enjoy the new world class facility in the summer of 2025/2026.
Where you can swim while we build
- For casual lap or recreational users find a venue near you using our venue finder.
- For organised user groups we have found solutions for various communities, see alternative venues during the closure.
- Learn to Swim participants who submitted an Expression of Interest were offered placements at alternative venues. If you have not arranged an alternative venue yet, we encourage you to get in touch with YMCA who operate the newly refurbished Thebarton Aquatic Centre to book into a new class.
