Site investigation works including geotechnical drilling and survey works will be undertaken along Lobethal Road between Ashton and Lenswood. These investigations will support planning for potential upgrades along this road.

To do this works safely, Lobethal Road will be reduced to a single lane with traffic controllers on site to control the direction of traffic with reduced speed limits in place. Please plan your trips, be cautious around workers, and follow the speed limits and signage. Outside of working hours, speed and lane restrictions will be removed.

Access to properties will be maintained for the duration of works, and we will ensure every effort is made to minimise impacts to surrounding properties and roads.

Minor noise disturbances can be expected while works are being undertaken, but we will minimise any disturbance to residents as much as practically possible. View the latest project update for more information

Project Background

The Adelaide Hills Productivity and Road Safety Package (PRS) aims to upgrade some of the region’s key strategic arterial roads. The $150 million initiative, jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian government’s (80:20), includes a range of road improvements to support economic growth, improve road safety and increase fire resilience in the Adelaide Hills area.

While the planning and design is progressing across these key road corridors, Lobethal Road between Ashton and Lenswood has been identified as a location for early safety upgrades for our road users. These upgrades are in line with the feedback and insights captured in our community engagement activities undertaken in late 2022, which identified road surface quality as the number one safety concern.

Feedback captured as part of this engagement will continue to inform further safety upgrades along this key corridor, with more detail to be provided as it becomes available.
Works will include:

  • new road surface to improve skid resistance
  • improve sealed shoulder;
  • widening of side roads and access aprons to reduce drag out of loose debris; and
  • new pavement marking.
