Augusta Highway Upgrades

The Augusta Highway Upgrades is delivering infrastructure upgrades along the 209km road section between Port Wakefield and Port Augusta, to improve safety, connectivity and freight efficiency, whilst importantly creating jobs.

Works include:

• Duplication of the Augusta Highway from Port Wakefield to Lochiel;
• Two new overtaking lanes between Lochiel and Redhill;
• A new northbound overtaking lane just south of the Horrocks Pass Road and Augusta Highway junction;
• Junction Upgrades between Redhill and Winninowie, including:
  • Augusta Highway and Horrocks Pass Road, at Winninowie;
  • Venning Road junction upgrade (south of Crystal Brook and north of Redhill on the Augusta Highway);
  • Clements Road junction upgrade (south of Crystal Brook and north of Redhill on the Augusta Highway);
  • Flinders View Drive junction upgrade (north of Crystal Brook and south of Port Germein);
• Shoulder sealing; and
• Pavement Rehabilitation.

These improvements are jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian Governments (80:20).

The funding programs include:

• Augusta Highway Duplication Project (being delivered by PW2PA)
• Augusta Highway Overtaking Lanes, which forms part of the South Australian Rural Roads (SARR) Safety Package
• SA High Productivity Vehicle Network Access
• Princes Highway Corridor Upgrades
• Freight Highway Upgrade Program
