Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island Transport Study
We are undertaking a transport study for the Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island to inform future transport planning and investment in the region.
Community engagement
Thank you to all members of the community who took the time to provide feedback at our engagement sessions in December 2023 and through our online survey.
Consulting with stakeholders and community forms an important component of the study, ensuring it is informed by local insights from those who know the region best – those that live, work, and travel in the region. Those inputs in addition to our technical assessments shape the final study.
About the study
The study will consider key issues and opportunities to improve transport, such as road safety and efficiency, and its ability to support liveability, and population and economic growth.
The study will help to guide future transport planning and investment in the region.
This study will encompass the Onkaparinga, Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island areas. This region has been selected given strong projected population growth in the outer southern suburbs and on the Fleurieu Peninsula, as well as the need to ensure safe and efficient connectivity to these areas.
In addition to residential growth, the Fleurieu Peninsula, and Kangaroo Island in particular, are key destinations for visitors and tourism, and have important freight routes for South Australian produce including dairy, livestock, and wine.
