Main South Road: Southern Expressway to Robinson Road Planning Study

Main South Road, the Southern Expressway and Victor Harbor Road provide access to many facilities located south of Adelaide including Adelaide’s southern beaches, McLaren Vale wine region, Kangaroo Island (via the port at Cape Jervis) and the wider Fleurieu Peninsula.

The 3km section of Main South Road that connects the Southern Expressway, Old Noarlunga to the newly duplicated sections at Victor Harbor Road and Robinson Road, Seaford Heights is yet to be reviewed.

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) is undertaking a planning study for this section of Main South Road to understand local considerations and issues to inform future upgrades.

This is an early opportunity to hear community insights as part of the planning process. There is no funding commitment for design and construction of this section.

The aims of the planning study are to understand:

  • how people live, work, visit and travel through this section of Main South Road;
  • how effectively Main South Road functions in this section, including traffic congestion and safety performance;
  • local traffic movements around this area, including what is needed in the future to support community growth; and
  • potential opportunities to improve this section for all users.

The map below shows the location of the Main South Road (Southern Expressway to Robinson Road) Planning Study.
