Princes Highway Upgrades

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) is delivering infrastructure upgrades on the Princes Highway Corridor, from Meningie to the South Australian/Victorian border. The project forms part of the $190 million Princes Highway Corridor Upgrade program which is jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments (80:20).

These works will support South Australia's regional economic growth, improve access for high productivity freight movements, provide upgrades to regional road networks for improved accessibility and community connectivity, enhance opportunities for regional tourism in South Australia and improve long term safety and efficiency for all road users.

From July 2024 finishing works including kerbing works and line marking will be undertaken between O’Leary Road and Penola Road, Mount Gambier.  Short -term speed restrictions will be required while these works are undertaken. Works are expected to be fully completed by mid-2024.

We appreciate that works within Mount Gambier have been ongoing for an extended period of time while we undertake these important upgrades. We have experienced a number of program impacts, including inclement weather, throughout the upgrades. We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding while these critical upgrade works are undertaken.
