Spencer Highway safety upgrades

We are delivering critical road safety upgrades to the Spencer Highway between Wallaroo and Moonta.

Important regional highways and roads have been identified to receive critical upgrades as part of the South Australian Government’s commitment to reduce the risk of fatal and serious injuries and increase road safety.

The State Government has allocated $10 million over four years (2024-2027) to undertake regional road safety treatments, including audio tactile line marking (ATLM), safety barriers, and shoulder sealing.

The Spencer Highway recorded three crashes from 2019 to 2023 between Wallaroo and Moonta and will receive shoulder sealing and ATLM under this funding. Construction is expected to start in early 2025.

This $10 million investment forms part of the State Government’s $98 million road safety package.
