Sturt Highway Corridor Upgrade

The Australian and South Australian governments have committed $87.5 million (80:20) to upgrade the Sturt Highway, between Renmark and Gawler. Extending approximately 210km, this section of Sturt Highway passes through the townships of Nuriootpa, Truro, Blanchetown, Waikerie, Barmera, Berri and Renmark.

The upgrade will improve safety, improve freight efficiency and support regional economic growth. Works may include:

Road rehabilitation works including shoulder sealing, resurfacing and upgraded barriers.
Additional overtaking lanes.
Improved and additional rest areas.
Safety enhancements at key junctions of the Sturt Highway.
A widened section of Highway near the Renmark caravan park to allow for movement of larger trucks.
