Victor Harbor Road Safety Improvements

As part of the $810 million Fleurieu Connections Projects, the Australian and South Australian governments have committed $15 million, (80:20) for safety upgrades on Victor Harbor Road.

This package aims to improve road safety on the 29 kilometre section of road between Willunga Hill and Victor Harbor, by reducing the risk and severity of road crashes by the inclusion of sealed road shoulders and road centreline treatments. The combination of safety treatments being adopted under this project provides safer outcomes for motorists using this road.

As part of the Victor Harbor Road Safety Improvements major construction works at the intersection of Hindmarsh Tiers Road and Virgin Road and the junction of Brookman Road are now complete. These improvements include;

  • dedicated right turn lanes from Victor Harbor Road into Hindmarsh Tiers Road and Virgin Road.
  • greater offset of the left turn lane from Victor Harbor Road into Brookman Road to ensure vehicles exiting Brookman Road have a clear line of sight, and
  • re-profiling of the intersection, with new surfacing and line markings.

The project team thanks local residents and road users for their patience while we delivered these important safety upgrades.

Minor finishing works and the demobilisation of the site compound will continue until early June 2025. Speed restrictions will remain in place as the new surface establishes and minor works are complete.
