West Lakes Boulevard and Turner Drive Intersection Upgrade

The Australian Government has committed $334,000.00 through the Australian Government Federal Black Spot Program to upgrade the intersection at West Lakes Boulevard and Turner Drive, West Lakes.

The project involves the installation of right turn traffic signal arrows on West Lakes Boulevard, to allow vehicles to turn right into Turner Drive under controlled signals. The right turn lane on West Lakes Boulevard will also be modified and extended.

This project will improve safety for all road users by reducing the number of right turn crashes for vehicles turning right from West Lakes Boulevard into Turner Drive.

The scope of works includes:

  • Installation of three right turn traffic signal arrows onto existing traffic light poles.
  • Extension of the right turn lane to increase storage capacity on West Lakes Boulevard.
  • Line marking and pavement modification.

Project Timing

Works will commence on Tuesday, 27 April 2021, and are expected to be completed by Monday, 31 May 2021, weather permitting.

Works will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Some weekend works may be required.

What to expect

Roads will remain open to traffic during the works, with a 40km/h speed restriction in place while workers
are on-site. Lane and other speed restrictions may apply subject to onsite conditions. Access to properties will be maintained throughout the works. There is no change to public transport services, and pedestrian access will not be affected during the works.

Road users are asked to please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, observe speed limits, lane restrictions, traffic controllers and take extra care when travelling through the area.

The Department appreciates your patience while these important works are undertaken.
