Outer Harbor rail line closures for Ethelton station upgrades

There will be a number of temporary partial night and weekend closures of the Outer Harbor rail line between Woodville Railway Station and Outer Harbor in July to allow construction works to continue for the Ethelton Railway Station Upgrade Project.

The line will partially close between 7:30pm and last service each weeknight from Monday, 8 July to Friday, 12 July and again from 7:30pm and last service each night from Sunday, 14 July to Friday, 19 July.

The line will also close for the weekend between 7:30pm Friday, 5 July and last service Sunday, 7 July and again between 7:30pm Friday, 26 July and last service Sunday, 28 July.

Substitute buses will operate during the temporary closures, servicing all stops between Woodville and Outer Harbor stations.

The temporary closures are necessary to allow construction works on the $9.9 million Ethelton Railway Station Upgrade Project, including the construction of a more accessible station platform and access ramps.

These works cannot be safely undertaken with trains operating in the rail corridor, and have been scheduled to minimise impacts on weekday commuters.

Outer Harbor line train services will continue to operate as usual between Adelaide Railway Station and Woodville Station, linking to substitute buses.

Grange line services will continue to operate as usual between the Adelaide Railway Station and the Grange Railway Station.

The Ethelton Railway Station will close from Monday, 1 July to Monday, 28 October to allow demolition and construction works. Commuters are encouraged to use nearby Glanville Railway Station during this time.

Construction on the Ethelton Railway Station Upgrade Project, which will provide more accessible platforms and access ramps to improve passenger safety and experience, started last week.

The project – which is expected to support 20 full time equivalent jobs over the construction period – is scheduled to be complete by late October.
