South Road tram overpass set for rebuild

The tram overpass across South Road at Glandore will be rebuilt to facilitate construction of the T2D Project.

The existing tram overpass across South Road at Glandore requires modification to facilitate construction of the T2D Project, and will be rebuilt as part of the Tram Grade Separation Project which will also see the Marion Road and Cross Road level crossings removed to improve safety and reduce congestion.

The South Road tram overpass, and Marion Road and Cross Road level crossings works will be undertaken concurrently to minimise overall construction time. This will result in the closure of the tram line for approximately six to nine months to allow for construction, with substitute buses operating in its place.

Community consultation will be undertaken in the coming months to inform urban design aspects of the new South Road tram overpass.

The Tram Grade Separation Project, along with works that form part of the Broader Network Upgrades, will help to ensure the proper functioning of Adelaide’s road network both during and after construction of the T2D Project.
