Operator accreditation

As part of the Taxi Industry Reform Package, new annual taxi licences have now been introduced.

A new annual taxi licence is required to operate a metropolitan taxi.

Existing metropolitan taxi licence holders who operate their own taxi will need to apply, by 30 April 2026, for a new annual taxi licence to continue operating a metropolitan taxi.  These taxi licence holders will also need to retain their operator accreditation.

Taxi licence holders who are not themselves operating a vehicle as a metropolitan taxi or other passenger transport service are not required to hold operator accreditation. As such there is no need for them to renew their operator accreditation.

Taxi licence holders who do not wish to renew their operator accreditation should notify the Department to ensure records are updated and any operator accreditation correspondence can cease. The Department can be emailed at: dit.alcenquiries@sa.gov.au.

Operators who hold both taxi and metro MV chauffeur /rideshare operator accreditation will need to maintain their MV accreditation.

SATSS vouchers

The State Government has increased the number of subsidised trips for South Australian Transport Subsidy Scheme (SATSS) members.

From 20 February 2026, SATSS members will receive 100 trips when due for a subsidised trip top-up.  This is an extra 20 trips.

Members will receive 100 subsidised trips on their Member ID Card the next time they are due for a trip top-up.

The 100 subsidised trips must last a minimum of six months before more trips can be issued.

For further information about the change and SATSS memberships, contact SATSS on 1300 360 840 or email DIT.SATSSEnquiries@sa.gov.au.

Compliance activity outcomes
