Statewide operation for metropolitan small passenger vehicles The South Australian Government has removed restrictions on metropolitan rideshare and chauffeur drivers allowing them to operate statewide. Metropolitan-based chauffeur and rideshare drivers are no longer required to apply for a separate accreditation to operate outside of the metropolitan boundary. This change will apply automatically to metropolitan operators who indicated either ‘rideshare’ or ‘chauffer’ at the time of their accreditation. Later this year all metropolitan taxis will also be allowed to operate statewide as part of the wider changes being implemented following the Passenger Transport Act Review. The Point-to-Point Transport Service Transaction Levy can only be applied to trips that start within the metropolitan boundary. To learn more visit the Point to Point website. $25 lifting fee now applies to country taxis Regional taxi drivers who transport passengers that use a wheelchair, scooter or large (ride-on) mobility aide are now eligible to receive a lifting fee, similar to what is already available in metropolitan areas. The passenger must use a wheelchair, scooter or large (ride-on) mobility aide and also hold a SATSS member ID card or a non-SATSS Access Taxi Card. The lifting fee is paid by the South Australian Government. There is no additional cost to the customer. Learn more about how the lifting fee works. |
