Project Evolution
We have completed extensive work to identify a preferred alignment and configuration for this section of the North-South Corridor. This work has long supported a need for a motorway solution to ease congestion on South Road.
Options explored for the T2D alignment and configuration included:
- an open motorway
- an elevated motorway
- an 'offline' option using major arterial roads
- cut-and-cover tunnelling construction technology
- a dual corridor (using South Road and Marion Road)
- a single long tunnel.
