Lincoln Highway Safety Upgrades
Works on the Lincoln Highway between Tumby Bay and Whyalla are now complete.
This project formed part of the $168 million National Road Safety Program, jointly funded by the Australian (50%) and South Australian (50%) governments.
Completed works on the Lincoln Highway between Tumby Bay and Whyalla included:
- Shoulder widening
- Shoulder sealing
- New line marking
- Vegetation management

Project Background
Extending approximately 219kms, the Lincoln Highway safety upgrade works started in Tumby Bay and progressed towards Whyalla. The Lincoln Highway is a key transport corridor for farming, freight and tourist movements in and around the Eyre Peninsular and these upgrades will deliver improvements to freight movements, support regional economic growth and improve safety for all road users.
