City-Bay-Bus! Rest your feet with free PT
Monday 15 September 2025
All City-Bay Fun Run participants will be able to access free public transport this Sunday, helping thousands of South Australians get to and from the event safely and conveniently.
From 5am to 2pm on Sunday, City-Bay runners and walkers can enjoy free travel on all Adelaide Metro services.
With the Glenelg tramline partially out-of-operation for the Tram Grade Separation Projects, extra substitute bus services will be on the road, getting participants to the starting line, and back to the city after the race.
Participants can simply present their race bib to the driver or customer service officer when boarding. Those taking the bus are encouraged to leave plenty of time to get to their chosen starting point.
With runners and walkers making their way down Anzac Highway, buses will divert onto alternate routes via Cross Road, Marion Road, Brae Street, Morphett Road, Diagonal Road and Brighton Road to Maxwell Terrace.
As road closures are lifted, buses will progressively return to Anzac Highway, except between Adelphi Terrace and Colley Terrace which will remain closed until 2pm.
Three dedicated shuttle buses will operate between Wrigley Reserve, picking up in front of the Watermark Hotel traveling to the CBD, dropping off and picking up participants at locations close to the 3km, 6km and 12km points on the route.
Up to 20 additional buses will operate on the tram substitute bus service.
Services will commence early to bring participants from Glenelg (Maxwell Terrace adjacent to the Brighton Road tram stop) to the start line in the city. After the race, additional services will run between Glenelg to the city.

Taking public transport is the easiest way to get to and from the City-Bay. Services will be running frequently, and you can avoid the stress of parking and road closures by letting us do the driving.
We want the focus on the day to be the fun run itself, not the traffic. Public transport is the most convenient way to get to the starting line and to get home again.
Whether you’re running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, Adelaide Metro buses will get you there on time and home safely, and these extra services, plus the tram-replacement services, provide plenty of options.
Check our Adelaide Metro website, for all the details on how to plan your journey.
