Service SA to open more branches for longer to assist Optus data breach victims
Friday, 30 September 2022
Several Service SA centres will operate at extended hours next week as the State Government continues to clear an extraordinary volume of driver’s licence replacements for customers affected by the Optus data hack.
As of midday today, Friday 30 September, Service SA centres had processed more than 16,000 licence replacements since Tuesday – including more than 2000 on Friday morning alone. That compares to just 213 licence replacements issued in the entire 2021 financial year.
As the State Government continues to do its bit to help Optus customers affected by the company’s data breach, selected Service SA centres will open for extended hours next week to assist with licence replacements.
The following branches will open early for an extra hour of processing from 8am to 9am on Wednesday and Thursday next week (5 and 6 October):
*Seaford Meadows
* Gawler
* Adelaide
* Prospect
The following branches will open late for an extra two hours of processing from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday 6 October:
* Elizabeth
* Marion
* Tranmere
For customers living in remote areas such as the APY Lands, Coober Pedy, Roxby Downs and the West Coast (Ceduna and Streaky Bay) there are existing processes already in place that will allow you to get your licence replaced. Please follow those processes.
For South Australians living in other regional areas who face a significant challenge to attend their nearest Service SA centre, please call 13 10 84 and Service SA will work with those customers to tailor a solution based on their individual situation.
The usual $20 processing fee for driver’s licence replacements has been waived for those affected by the Optus data breach.
