April 12, Rail R U OK? Day
Thursday, 12 April 2018
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure is again recognising the industry-wide mental health initiative Rail R U OK? Day this Thursday.
On Rail R U OK? Day – and every day – we ask you to find the time and courage to have a chat that has the power to transform a workmate’s journey, by prompting them to answer one simple question: Are you okay?
A host of events are being held across the country to mark this important message, we encourage people to find out how they can get involved to show their support.
More than a one-day event, a number of activities will follow throughout the year, including Rail Safety Week in August.
Rail R U OK? Day is a national campaign coordinated by TrackSAFE, in collaboration with suicide prevention group R U OK?. Its ultimate goal is breaking down the stigma associated with depression, anxiety and mental trauma.
The ‘Pause. Call. Be Heard.’ campaign launch follows the establishment of a partnership between the TrackSAFE foundation and Lifeline, with it’s 24/7 telephone crisis support services.
By making every day a Rail R U OK? Day we can create a culture of support and encouragement so that people can go from feeling stressed, to feeling supported.
Open and honest conversations have the power to transform our railway workplaces into strong and spirited communities.
