Council Assessment Panels to operate from 1 October 2017

On the 1 August 2017 the Council Assessment Panels and State Planning Policy provisions of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 commenced operation.
The new panels will have a maximum of five members, one of which may be an elected member of council.
Members other than elected members will need to have relevant expertise and in 2018 following the commencement of the accredited professionals scheme will be required to be an ‘accredited professional’.
A draft Code of Conduct for panel members is now being refined and will be published on the SA Planning Portal by the Minister for Planning on or before the panel commencement date.
