Have your say - policy changes for the Morphettville Racecourse

Published Tuesday, 5 September 2017

The Morphettville Racecourse Development Plan Amendment (DPA) proposes to amend the Marion Council and West Torrens Council Development Plans to enable a more varied range of uses including mixed-use medium to high density residential living and employment policy areas, including a hotel, recreation centre and tourist accommodation.

The DPA is now available for comment for a period of eight weeks until 5.00 pm on 3 November 2017.

The new policies recognize the proximity to good public transport links and seeks quality design outcomes recognising the adjacent residential areas.

The area containing the tram barns and service areas will change from a Commercial Zone to Industry Zone – Infrastructure Policy Area to better reflect the existing use and long term intention for the site.

The rezoning has been initiated due to the recent consolidation of the racing activities, at the Morphettville Racecourse leaving over seven hectares of land that is no longer required for racing purposes. The South Australian Jockey Club has been kept fully informed through the process on the DPA.
