Published Wednesday, 29 March 2017
On 28 March 2017, His Excellency the Governor in Executive Council proclaimed the commencement of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016, signalling the start of a brand new era for planning and development in South Australia.
From 1 April 2017, various sections of the PDI Act – including those which formally establish the State Planning Commission, Community Engagement Charter and Environment and Food Production Areas – and the Statutes Amendment (Planning, Development and Infrastructure) Act 2017 will become operational and the first elements of South Australia’s new planning system to be officially implemented.
A list of those sections of the PDI Act that are now commenced and those that are suspended can be found in this factsheet (PDF, 236 KB).
To support the transition to the new system, several sections of the two sets of supporting regulations – the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act (General) Regulations 2017 and the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017 – were also proclaimed and will become operational on 1 April.
See the Government Gazette for a listing of the five (5) proclamations made by the Governor on 28 March 2017.
