Community Engagement Charter Approved

After an extensive consultation process undertaken by the State Planning Commission, the Minister for Planning has now approved the Community Engagement Charter (PDF, 1109 KB).
People in South Australia now have greater opportunities to help shape their neighbourhoods, under the new Charter.
Government and councils will now need to ensure it genuinely engages with local people when drawing up the planning rules that shape cities, towns and public spaces.
The charter aims to get local people involved early to design neighbourhoods and has legally binding principles of engagement to ensure the way authorities get local people involved is inclusive, fit for purpose and transparent.
A Guide to the Community Engagement Charter (PDF, 2965 KB) has also been published to provide assistance to ensure engagement meets the Charter’s principles.
Further information is available on the Community Engagement Charter page.
