What is going on behind the scenes?
There is an entire profession devoted to the development of our built environment: it’s called planning.
Planning has a role to play in every aspect of our lives, including housing; transport; heritage protection; art and culture; environmental protection; and the mitigation of natural hazards.
Planning does not happen in isolation: it is undertaken alongside the communities that it affects, with the aim of creating enjoyable, sustainable and prosperous places for current and future generations.
