Plympton Mixed Use Development, Anzac Highway and Marion Road

Published Monday, 8 April 2019

On 21 March 2019, the Minister for Planning varied the provisional development authorisation for Stage 2 of the Plympton Mixed Use Development located at the corner of Anzac Highway and Marion Road, Plympton. The amendments included changes to the configuration of retail tenancies, supermarket floor area and grade level carparking, whilst design changes to the residential components introduced two-storey townhouses along Elizabeth Street and the ‘West Tower’ becomes a standalone building with its own carpark.

The approved amendments will facilitate the continued redevelopment of this strategic corridor site, supporting an increase in residential densities close to services and public transport, and providing a boost to local employment, both during the construction and operational phases of this mixed use development. The assessment report noted that any external impacts can be appropriately managed, with the overall development footprint being reduced, resulting in fewer traffic movements and an enhanced level of streetscape activation and public realm improvements.
