More than 200 new homes for Yorke Peninsula

The Malinauskas Labor Government continues its push to tackle the housing crisis by rezoning 28 hectares of land in Kadina on the Yorke Peninsula.
The parcel of land at Daddow Court and Abbott Drive in the north-eastern fringe of Kadina could potentially accommodate at least 227 low density allotments.
The code amendment will see a small patch of farming land previously used for crops rezoned to a General Neighbourhood Zone, to support the growing population and demand for housing in the top of the Yorke Peninsula.
The Yorke Peninsula Regional Land Use Framework identifies Kadina as the commercial and industrial hub of the Yorke Peninsula.
The rezoning has the support of the Member for Narungga, Fraser Ellis MP, as well as the Copper Coast Council and would extend the existing residential streets in the nearby area.
The code amendment has been signed off by Minister for Planning Nick Champion, with the developer able to begin the next stage of planning for the site.
The code amendment states the proposed block size is 450m2, which provides for a family sized home with garden. This is larger than the nearby development which contains smaller allotment sizes, down to 350m2.
The Malinauskas Labor Government has an emphasis on streamlining the code amendment process for both metropolitan and regional South Australia as part of the A Better Housing Future initiative.
