We maintain almost 10,000 kilometres of unsealed roads in the Unincorporated Area of South Australia.

The grading program can change due to rain events and customer concerns. We will update the map every two weeks.

About the grading program

Unsealed roads need to be regularly graded due to the effects of traffic and weather on the driving surface.

The grader operator will remove potholes and rough areas by:

• cutting the surface of the road
• working on additional material from the edge of the road back and forth across the surface.

The resulting surface is smoother and ideally free draining without dips.

Regular grading ensures the road network remains in safe condition for all road users. We work with our maintenance contractor to develop an annual grading program based on the maintenance priority for each road.

The condition of unsealed roads can change quickly. Even freshly graded roads may be quickly affected by weather. We advise road users to drive to the conditions and to observe road closure advice.
