Way2Go Bike Ed is a State Government funded program. Each year, Way2Go Bike Ed is delivered to:

• 50 to 70 metropolitan and regional schools
• approximately 4,000 to 5,000 students.

For the Way2Go Bike Ed program from 2027 onwards, a new registration process will apply to support improved planning, scheduling and delivery of the program across the state. The Department for Infrastructure and Transport will invite eligible schools to participate through two Expression of Interest (EOI) rounds. This approach provides greater flexibility for schools and service providers and allows for earlier confirmation of participation and delivery scheduling.

Terms 1 and 2 Participation

During Term 3 of the 2026 school year, an EOI is distributed to eligible schools seeking participation in Terms 1 and 2 of the 2027 school year.  Schools must submit their EOI by the specified closing date.

Following receipt of EOI's, submissions are reviewed and an email is sent to the Principal to verify the registration details.

Successful schools are notified of their funded place and participation in the program during Term 4 of the 2026 school year. Unsuccessful schools will also be advised of the outcome.

The list of confirmed schools and contact details are then provided to the service provider, who will contact schools during Term 4 to negotiate and confirm delivery dates before the end of the school year.

Terms 3 and 4 Participation

During Term 1 of the 2027 school year, a second EOI is distributed to eligible schools seeking participation in Terms 3 and 4 of the same year. Schools must submit their EOI by the specified closing date.

Following receipt of EOI's, submissions are reviewed and an email is sent to the Principal to verify the registration details.

Successful schools are notified of their funded place and participation in the program during Term 2 of the 2026 school year. Unsuccessful schools will also be advised of the outcome.

The list of confirmed schools and contact details are then provided to the service provider, who will contact schools during Term 2 to negotiate and confirm delivery dates for Term 3 and 4.

Waitlist

Eligible schools that are unsuccessful in receiving a funded place, or registered after the due date, may request to be waitlisted. If a school cancels, waitlisted schools may be offered a place during a specified term or duration.
