Hancock Road Pedestrian Actuated Crossing

About the project

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) has installed a pedestrian actuated crossing on Hancock Road, Surrey Downs.

Works included the removal of the existing Koala crossing and the installation of a pedestrian actuated (push button) crossing and traffic signals in order to improve safety for all crossing users.

Upgrade works included:

  • installation of new pedestrian actuated traffic signals
  • upgraded pedestrian access ramps
  • removal of existing koala crossing
  • installation of a new staggered crossing

The project was one of eight locations across South Australia identified for upgrade as part of the broader strategy to improve road safety for all pedestrians but in particular children walking to and from school.
