Aviation funding boost ready for take-off
Wednesday 13 May 2026
A new round of aviation grants is now open, offering regional South Australian airports and aerodromes a faster flight path to future growth.
The South Australian Supporting Regional Aviation Program delivers grants of up to $150,000 for projects that improve regional airport infrastructure across the state, while supporting local jobs during construction.
Public airports and aerodromes are encouraged to apply for a share of $500,000 in funding that can be used towards projects such as improving runways, terminal facilities, and navigational aids, ensuring they comply with regulatory requirements and improving aviation safety.
Regional and remote aerodromes provide pivotal access for aeromedical care and emergency services while driving economic activity through transport, community connectivity, and supporting agricultural services.
The grants program began in 2015 with nearly $4.5 million awarded across 62 projects over 11 funding rounds. Two initiatives secured grants in Round 10 funding, with Elliston Aerodrome and the Cleve Aerodrome Airport currently progressing runway, apron and taxiway improvements.
Applications for round 11 funding close on Friday, 5 June, 2026.
Owners of existing publicly owned airports and aerodromes in regional South Australia are eligible to apply, and projects must be capable of completion by 30 June, 2027.
