This Ministerial Building Standard (MBS 008) identifies bushfire prone areas in the Building Code and the additional fire safety provisions required for the protection of new Class 1, 2 and 3 buildings in these bushfire prone areas.
Application of MBS 008 is linked to relevant areas identified in the Planning and Design Code, as set out in the Standard.
Ministerial Building Standards form part of the Building Rules which are used to assess a development application for building consent. All standards must be read in conjunction with the requirements of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure (General) Regulations 2017.
