Who We Are and What We Do

The Building Projects Directorate is a part of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT)'s Infrastructure Delivery Division and works in partnership with Government agencies and Industry to manage the delivery of social infrastructure (building construction) projects.

This Directorate was established to meet a need for excellence in the management of Government building projects.  DIT Building Projects manages an ongoing program of projects through the outsourcing of some roles to the private sector, while retaining control of the most critical risk areas on behalf of Government.

Building Projects operates in accordance to the policy framework set out in the Department for Premier and Cabinet (DPC) Circular 028 (PDF, 54 KB), which mandates the use of the Construction Procurement Policy Project Implementation Process (PIP) (PDF, 1813 KB) as a risk management strategy.

The PIP identifies the key phases of all major projects and defines the roles and accountabilities for stakeholders.
