Safe People
Everyone living in or visiting South Australia is a road user, whether they drive, ride, walk or are a passenger.
We all have a role to play in the using the road network safely. This includes car and heavy vehicle drivers, cyclists, motorcyclists, pedestrians, and young and older road users.
All road users should:
- know their responsibilities
- respect the rights of all who share our roads and paths.
Making safe choices can help prevent crashes and save lives. To help motivate road users to behave safely on the roads and follow the rules, the government uses a combination of:
- education
- enforcement and penalties, such as fines and demerit points.
Road user behaviour remains as a significant contributing factor to road trauma. Your decisions can affect your safety and of others on the road. These decisions include:
- speeding
- driving or riding while under the influence
- using your mobile phone
- not wearing a seatbelt.
Please follow the rules and make road safety a priority.
