The Department for Infrastructure and Transport has an exciting opportunity for university students to gain hands-on experience working in an organisation that delivers the State’s major infrastructure projects and transport networks across the State. The successful candidate will experience working within an agency with highly skilled and experienced professionals across a multiple of specialised fields.

Placements are available over an 11 week period from 13 December 2021 to 25 February 2022.

We invite students from a wide range of disciplines to apply. Placements are available across the following areas:

Recruitment Process

Recruitment for the Undergraduate Vacation Employment Program for 2021/2022 is as follows;

1. Email with your full application, including:

2. Applications will be reviewed and shortlisted for various projects

3. Panel interviews will be conducted for shortlisted applicants

4. Reference checks will be completed

5. Successful applicants will be contacted and offered a role

Please also note that some roles may require a Working with Children Employment Screening and/or Clearances. Applicants will be contacted should they be required to provide such clearances.


To be eligible for the Undergraduate Vacation Employment Program, you must:

  • Be in the process of completing an undergraduate degree from an accredited university;
  • Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have eligibility to work in Australia for the eleven week period;
  • Be available for the entire 11 week period between 13 December 2021 up to and including 25 February 2022; and
  • Have completed the application process in full.

Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Students undertaking their second, third or final year of study are strongly encouraged to apply.
