Gawler, Outer Harbor and Grange rail lines temporarily closed for signalling upgrade works

Saturday, 31 December 2022

Due to signalling upgrade works, the Gawler, Outer Harbor and Grange rail lines will be closed from 10pm Wednesday 4 January to 5:30am Thursday 5 January.

Trains will not be running in both directions on the Gawler, Outer Harbor and Grange rail lines from 10pm Wednesday 4 January, with services on these lines recommencing from 5:30am Thursday 5 January 2023.

Substitute buses will be operating during this time between Adelaide Railway Station and Gawler Central, Outer Harbor and Grange Railway Stations for passengers of these services.

Trains will continue to run to normal timetables on the Seaford, Flinders and Belair lines.

These temporary closures are necessary to safely undertake signalling upgrade works at Kilburn Junction that cannot be undertaken while trains are running.

These works are also essential to enable the activation of active pedestrian crossings along the Gawler rail line.

While these works are undertaken, the Pym Street level crossing at Dudley Park and Cormack Road level crossing at Dry Creek will be temporarily closed to all road users – with signage in place to advise road users of detours.

Road users at Pym Street will be required to use an alternative crossing via Grand Junction Road, while at Cormack Road the alternative crossing will be via Belford Avenue.

These works have been specifically scheduled late at night with no major events to minimise the impact to commuters.

The Department apologises for any inconvenience and thanks commuters for their patience while these important works are undertaken.

Passengers are encouraged to visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au to check their timetable in real time and plan their trip with Adelaide Metro’s journey planner.
