Rapid Bay
New Rapid Bay Jetty
We are carrying out maintenance works on the new Rapid Bay Jetty to improve the jetty's structural integrity and lifespan.
Work is now scheduled to commence from 15 July 2025 and will be completed by late-September 2025, weather permitting.
The Jetty will remain open and accessible to all users as much as safely possibly, however some intermittent daytime closures will be required. Closures will be communicated through onsite signage at least 48 hours prior. Full access will be maintained on weekends and during events.
Old Rapid Bay Jetty
Diving, swimming and boating is now prohibited around the entire Old Rapid Bay Jetty, which has further deteriorated.
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport inspected the jetty after the storm event on 26 May and found new safety risks in the exclusion zone.
As a result, the partial exclusion zone around the main arm of the jetty, which has been in place since early 2022 due to collapsed and loosening sections, now extends to the T head.
This means all vessels and people are prohibited beneath and within 20 metres either side and both ends of the jetty.
The Department will install buoys and update signage around the area alerting people to the danger.
Engineers have inspected the jetty and this will determine the next steps.
