Marine Facilities Fund

This fund can help with the costs to establish, maintain and improve public facilities used by marine vessels in South Australia.

The fund is established under section 90A of the Harbors and Navigation Act 1993. It consists of:

  • levies paid by vessels that must be registered under the Act (section 90AA)
  • income from investing fund money.

We administer the Marine Facilities Fund.

To find the fund balance, refer to the Treasurer's Financial Statements on Audit Office of South Australia. Details appear each year in Statement G.

Eligible facilities

To be eligible for funding, boating facilities must be used by vessels. These include boat ramps, pontoons and wharves. Applicants must contribute at least 20% of the total project cost.

The fund may also support some aids to navigation.

Application assessment

The South Australian Boating Facility Advisory Committee (SABFAC) assesses applications and makes a recommendation to the Minister.

Applications are assessed against the South Australian Boating Facilities Strategic Plan (PDF, 7.5 MB). The plan sets out strategies to ensure the fund is used effectively.
