Applying for the fund
This fund can help with the costs to establish, maintain and improve facilities used by marine vessels in South Australia.
Local councils and statutory bodies can apply for funding at any time.
If you are a member of the public or an organisation, discuss your project idea with your council.
Your project
Boating facilities must be publicly available to be eligible for funding. Facilities typically include boat ramps, pontoons and wharves.
Your project must meet these priorities in the South Australian Boating Facilities Strategic Plan (PDF, 7.5 MB):
- activating key boating hubs
- connecting key boating routes
- improving safety outcomes.
Your application
Your application must include the following as a minimum:
- community support letters
- aerial photos
- scope of works
- drawings
- cost estimates (note: you must contribute at least 20% of the total project cost).
Find all application instructions on SmartyGrants.
Application assessment
The South Australian Boating Facility Advisory Committee (SABFAC) assesses applications against the strategic plan each quarter.
SABFAC will submit a recommendation to the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport.
You will be notified about the final decision in writing.
Next steps
After you accept a funding grant offer from the Minister, you must meet certain conditions to receive the funds. Conditions can include independent design certification, a land agreement and development approval.
The grant offer letter will outline all terms and conditions.
Once the project is completed, you will need to provide an acquittal report. This report must include final costs and an independent construction verification.
Use these documents to complete the required independent certification and verification:
- Independent design certification (PDF, 229.9 KB)
- Specification for construction verification (PDF, 232.1 KB).
