Major construction work to deliver important safety improvements on the Grange Road, Hawthorn level crossing is now complete.
We would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while we delivered these important safety improvements.

Safety treatments
Concept image of the improvements at the level crossing.
These included:
- new traffic signals on the western side of the crossing
- removal of the existing STOP signs
- detectors linked to the new traffic signals to prevent vehicles queuing across the crossing
- re-grading of the road to improve geometry and visibility over the crossing
- right turns to and from Verco Avenue removed (left in left out only)
- traffic monitoring camera installed at the level crossing
