About the project
Marion Road and Sir Donald Bradman Drive are major commuter, freight and public transport routes with around 60,000 vehicles crossing the intersection daily. The intersection becomes very congested with long queues especially during peak times.
With increasing demand, the current intersection will not cater for future road user demands.
This project opened to traffic late 2025, with minor activities to be complete early 2026.
To make your journey safer and more reliable, this upgrade included:
- increased through-lanes on Sir Donald Bradman Drive heading west and new dedicated turning lanes on Sir Donald Bradman Drive in both directions
- extended storage for the left turn lane onto Sir Donald Bradman Drive heading west
- new LED road lighting, asphalt, drainage, kerbing and gutters
- upgraded pedestrian crossings at the intersection and on Marion Road, improving safety for pedestrians
- new dedicated bicycle lanes on all approaches, improving safety for cyclists
- urban design and landscaping.
