About the project

Floodways will be reconstructed, reinforced with cement, and sealed to enable vehicles to better access the track after rain events.

The project was jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments.

What's happening

Formation works raised the surface level of the track in some sections to allow the road to remain open or be reopened sooner after rain events.

Works within an 80 km section of the Oodnadatta Track between Marla and Oodnadatta were completed in 2024.
