About the project
We have delivered a new heavy vehicle rest area at Salt Creek along the Princes Highway. This rest area will improve road safety and help heavy vehicle drivers manage fatigue. The $3.8 million project is jointly funded by the Australian (80%) and South Australian (20%) governments.
What's happening
Work to construct a new eastbound heavy vehicle rest area on the Princes Highway, near Salt Creek has been completed. The Salt Creek Heavy Vehicle Rest Area includes:
- five heavy vehicle parking bays within the new rest area
- a unisex toilet block
- a metal shade structure
To reduce the demand for water during the summer months, hydroseeding of the rest area and surrounds was scheduled for the cooler, wetter months of winter.
To safely undertake these works the new eastbound Salt Creek Heavy Vehicle Rest Area will temporarily close during working hours.
