About the project
We have delivered a new heavy vehicle rest area at Salt Creek along the Princes Highway. This rest area will improve road safety and help heavy vehicle drivers manage fatigue. The $3.8 million project is jointly funded by the Australian (80%) and South Australian (20%) governments.
What's happening
Work to construct a new eastbound heavy vehicle rest area on the Princes Highway, near Salt Creek has been completed. The Salt Creek Heavy Vehicle Rest Area includes:
- five heavy vehicle parking bays within the new rest area
- a unisex toilet block
- a metal shade structure
To reduce the demand for water during the summer months, hydroseeding of the rest area and surrounds was undertaken in the cooler, wetter months of winter.
