About the project
We are undertaking remediation works on the Southend Jetty Lower Landings to improve the jetty’s structural integrity and lifespan.
These works are being undertaken as part of the South Australian Marine Asset Sustainment fund. The fund is designed to ensure ongoing access to jetties, which provide significant economic, social, and environmental benefits for communities.
What's happening
Remediation works on the Southend Jetty are continuing and are progressing well. Recently completed works include:
- remediation of lower landings one, two and three
- the installation of new structural piles
- installation of new cross brace brackets and decking
These works will help to facilitate safer berthing and mooring for vessels.
We have also identified further opportunities to upgrade the jetty, including installing extra jetty bracing and handrails further improving the condition and longevity of the jetty.
These works will be carried out as part of these works and prior to the start of the commercial fishing season.
