Williamstown Road Safety Upgrades

Williamstown Road Safety Upgrades

These upgrades are funded as part of the Australian Government’s 2024-25 Black Spot Program which directly targets high risk roads for safety improvements.

Improving road safety

About the project

We are delivering safety upgrades on Williamstown Road, between Yettie Road and Lyndoch Valley Road, Williamstown. The works aim to significantly reduce the occurrence of road crashes.

Works are currently underway, with completion expected in April 2026.

What's happening

Works include:

  • Safety barrier installation
  • Shoulder sealing
  • Audio Tactile Line Marking (ATLM)
  • Vegetation management.

ATLM is used to reduce rural ‘run-off-road’ crashes by providing a noise (audio) and vibratory (tactile) warning to road users.

Vegetation Management

To undertake critical safety upgrades on Williamstown Road some vegetation removal is required.

Throughout the planning and design process every effort has been made to minimise vegetation impacts, however, some removals are necessary.
