Renewed Ardrossan Jetty reopens after significant investment

Major structural renewal works are now complete on Ardrossan Jetty, which was closed for almost a year, including the installation of new steel piles and replacing key structural timber components to strengthen the jetty and extend its lifespan.   

The reopening marks an important milestone in a $10 million joint project to renew both Ardrossan and Edithburgh jetties, funded through a special 70:30 partnership between the State Government and Yorke Peninsula Council, which is responsible for approximately a third of South Australia’s 30 local government-managed jetties.

Alongside the reopening of Ardrossan Jetty, funding through the SA Jetty Renewal Program is also helping to deliver the replacement of Port Vincent Fisherman’s Jetty, which is expected to reopen by the end of August 2026.

Preparations are now underway to commence repair on the Edithburgh Jetty, with the jetty now closed to the public from 24 July 2026 through to April 2027.

Across the Ardrossan, Port Vincent and Edithburgh jetty projects, the State Government is contributing almost $7.2 million, helping council preserve these important community assets and keep them safely open for years to come.

The SA Jetty Renewal Program provides funding to support local governments to repair or upgrade a divested jetty, helping to ensure ongoing public access to jetties, which provide economic, social and environmental benefits for community.

The program has already delivered the successful repair and reopening of Horseshoe Bay Jetty after it was forced to close due to storm damage.

Port Lincoln Town Jetty and Haslam Jetty on the Eyre Peninsula have also been repaired, while works on upgrading the Port Hughes Jetty are currently underway.
