A big splash for the new Aquatic Centre
Tuesday 27 January 2026
There’s a wave of excitement with South Australians to experience the State Government’s brand new $135 million Adelaide Aquatic Centre which is now open to the public and members.
Casual passes are available and memberships were active when doors opened at 5am this morning.
More than 2000 people are already enrolled in learn-to-swim and squad classes while 1700 health and wellness memberships have already been snapped up since memberships for the new centre opened in November last year.
More than 100 sporting, community and health groups will return to the brand new facility after being accommodated at alternative venues across the Adelaide pool network during construction.
Approximately 1500 lucky ballot winners got to experience the centre on its first day of operation yesterday.
The completion of the project comes less than two years after major construction began in February 2024. Landscaping and installation of new irrigation and turf will continue over the coming month.
More than 1500 full-time equivalent jobs were supported over the life of the project, with more than 2500 people working at pace in recent weeks to complete the finishing touches.
Experienced operator YMCA Aquatic will run the new Adelaide Aquatic Centre, as well as the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre at Oaklands Park with reciprocal rights in place for both venues, for gym and swim.
