Bus route extended to stop at Foodbank

Wednesday 20 May 2026

Better access to food relief services in Mount Gambier is coming with buses to stop at the Foodbank Hub from the start of next month.

Following discussions with the City of Mount Gambier and Foodbank, the State Government has contributed additional funding to extend the Route 1292 (North West Loop) bus service to include the Mount Gambier Foodbank on Cave Street.

The service extension is designed to support individuals and families who count on Foodbank, many who may face transport barriers.

By adding this stop, the bus network will provide a safer, more affordable, and convenient way for community members to access vital support.

As part of this initiative, the City of Mount Gambier has installed a Disability Discrimination Act compliant bus stop. This will provide passengers unobstructed, level, and non-slip access to the bus ensuring independent access for people with disabilities.

Route 1292 (North West Loop) services will start next month at the Foodbank.
